Genome Walking—GenomeWalker Kits—Identify Sequences Near Your Gene of Interest

 

The Universal GenomeWalker 2.0 Kit is a complete kit that contains all the reagents you need to construct gene libraries and perform PCR-based “walking” in the genomic DNA of any species. In addition to the Universal GenomeWalker library construction components, the kit includes an Advantage 2 PCR Kit as well as the NucleoSpin Tissue and NucleoSpin Gel and PCR Clean-Up Kits. The GenomeWalker Universal 2.0 Kit supplies sufficient reagent for the generation of three gene libraries from three different samples and the performance of 80 walks. All you need to add are your own gene-specific primers (GSP). 

 

GenomeWalker Kits provide a simple, PCR-based gene discovery tool for finding novel and unknown sequences adjacent to known sequences (e.g., expressed sequence tag (EST)) by walking upstream or downstream in the genomic DNA of the known sequence. GenomeWalker allows for individual steps of up to 6 kb in genomic DNA using long-distance PCR. Walks can be extended simply by taking multiple steps or using new primers based on the sequences obtained in previous steps.
